Step into one of our boutiques and you’re met with breathtaking beauty. Long, luxurious curtains line the walls. Countless colors and patterns hang ceiling to floor. And your mind runs wild as you consider the seemingly endless possibilities to enhance the charm and character of your home.
At The Curtain Exchange each of our curtains is made to exacting standards with the latest fashions top of mind. Our boutique owners, designers and seamstresses all place an overwhelming emphasis on tradition and history, consistency and style.
Put simply, you won’t find custom-made curtains like ours anywhere else. Here, you’ll discover curtains made using exotic silks from India, Thailand and Italy. You’ll see sewn crewel fabric from Kashmir and fine linen from Turkey and Holland. And you’ll find gentle cotton prints from the United Kingdom, and sheer material from Germany.
Our process begins as our designers source material from around the world and work with fabric specialists to create exclusive designs. Colors, textures and patterns are taken into consideration. Each piece of fabric undergoes an artistic evaluation with an eye towards creating a signature style — as though the material is to become an exquisite dress or a piece of limited luxury clothing. Once we match our select fabrics with the perfect design, drawings and materials are readied for fabrication.
In our American design studios, our skilled seamstresses begin to turn design dreams into fashion realities. Made in limited quantities, in lengths from 110 to 130 inches, our curtains are custom tailored and fabricated rather than manufactured. Our seamstresses handcraft each curtain using three different fabric textures and weights including the face fabric, the interlining and the lining. In the end, every series is given a proper name, such as Envy, Starlight, All About Me, and Hoola Hoop, then sent directly to a specific boutique — each of which carries a slightly different inventory, matching the styles and needs of the individual region.
